Heptonstall St Thomas – Baptisms

An error has been reported for the baptisms for this church. It is:

BUTTERWORTH – Richard on 26 December 1793

It should read:

BUTTERWORTH – Simeon on 26 December 1793 Son of John and Ann Butterworth

This has been confirmed in the Censuses as the original document that was transcribed was very faint and was very difficult to read.

The Transcription Index and the Databases have been changed to reflect this change.

We have been advised of 2 errors on a Monumental Inscription for the Halstead grave. “Hiram” was incorrectly shown as “Ivor” & Leah’s age was shown as 26 instead of 86. The correct entry should read :-

HIRAM HALSTEAD, died April 13th 1901. aged 72 years. Also LEAH HALSTEAD, who died March 9th 1916, aged 86 years.

New transcriptions completed

Our transcriptions team has been working hard and recently achieved a milestone by publishing the last of the parish church registers. With the completion of these transcriptions the team has transcribed all the available parish records in our Society’s area. This is a tremendous achievement only very slightly marred because we have not been able to get permission to work on the registers for from St Mary/Christ Church at Todmorden.
But the team is not resting on its laurels! They are now working on the Burial records for Stoney Royd Cemetery – the largest & current cemetery in Calderdale, along with smaller projects. They are also collaborating with Warley Community Association on transcribing the Burial Registers for Warley Town Cemetery.
