School records can be an extremely rich source of information for genealogy research and add colour to the life of your ancestor with the details that they provide.

The top 10 surnames from the School logs are Akroyd, Clegg, Firth, Greenwood, Mitchell, Shaw, Smith, Sutcliffe, Taylor, Walker, Wilson which together account for just over 10% of the records. But with over 2000 different surnames in the logs, you’re likely to find a record of interest.

Membership Secretary Retiring

After 16 years of great service to the Society, Gill Phillips, our Membership Secretary, is retiring to north Norfolk, with her husband, & so has resigned her post with the Society.

The Society offer her our grateful thanks for all she has done over the years, & wish her & Chris well in their new life.

In the short-term, Susan Clarke has taken over Gill’s responsibilities until the AGM in April, when Susan will formally be standing for election to the post.
