New transcriptions completed

Last updated on March 14th, 2019 at 04:02 pm

Our transcriptions team has been working hard and recently achieved a milestone by publishing the last of the parish church registers. With the completion of these transcriptions the team has transcribed all the available parish records in our Society’s area. This is a tremendous achievement only very slightly marred because we have not been able to get permission to work on the registers for from St Mary/Christ Church at Todmorden.
But the team is not resting on its laurels! They are now working on the Burial records for Stoney Royd Cemetery – the largest & current cemetery in Calderdale, along with smaller projects. They are also collaborating with Warley Community Association on transcribing the Burial Registers for Warley Town Cemetery.
Have you used any of the transcriptions to unlock you family history? please let us know by putting a comment here.

Halifax St John BMDs – Missing Data

Last updated on March 14th, 2019 at 04:02 pm

The CDs & downloads for Halifax St John BMDs for 1813 to 1837 has recently been found to have a set of data missing.   Specifically, in the date sequence file only, baptisms from 1/7/1827 to 31/12/1827 are missing.    The files giving baptisms in name sequence are unaffected.

Anyone who has previously purchased a download of these files should already have had a replacement file sent to them.    Anyone who has previously purchased a CD & would like a correction file sent to them, should E-Mail projects@cfhsweb.co.uk & we will arrange for the corrected file to be E-Mailed to you.

Our thanks to Mr. David Greenwood for pointing this error out to us.

Full Transcription Index launched

Last updated on March 14th, 2019 at 04:02 pm

In the autumn of 2013, we implemented a full index of approximately one million names of people who appear on our transcribed publications. The index entry gives a summary of the event, and the full detail is available in the relevant publication. This is a unique and valuable tool to help you find easily whether or not we hold information about someone of interest to you.

The index covers Births Marriages and deaths from parish registers, census records from 1764 notices in the Halifax Guardian and much more

You will find the index under the Research menu.
