Halifax Guardian Birth Marriage and Death announcements added to Transcription Index

Last updated on March 14th, 2019 at 04:02 pm

Another 80,000 records from the Halifax Guardian have been added to the on-line Transcription Index. Covering the period from 1874 to 1885, these records provide the surname and the event being announced and the date. The records also have first names which might, for births, be belong to a parent.
These additions bring the number of records on the index with more due to be added in the next few months.
If you haven’t tried the index on-line, there’s even more reasons (80,000!) why you should take a look. The index is the first item under the Research tab

We have published a a full transcription of the registers of Sowerby St Peter BMDs from 1643 to 1982, all indexed & searchable Our thanks to all our volunteers who worked on this project.
We are now transcribing Baptisms, Marriages & Burials at Ripponden St Bartholomew and expect to have this project completed in the autumn of 2013.

Projects – Current at June 2012

The main on-going project at present is the transcription of the Parish Records of St Peter, Sowerby from 1643 to 1982.   At the beginning of June, we have just 44 more burial files to be sent out for transcription, to be followed by all baptism, marriage & burial records to be validated.

We hope to have completed the project, ready for publication, by the Autumn of this year.

If anyone would like to help on this, or future, projects, please contact me: Peter Lord (Project Coordinator) at projects@cfhsweb.co.uk or leave a reply to this Post.
