13th June 2026 – The Scrivener

The Summer edition of The Scrivener is on its way. Those of you who get the paper copy will be receiving them soon. The online version will be posted on June 22nd.

As you read the new Summer issue, we invite you to share your thoughts and reactions through a new feature on this website. We hope to facilitate interesting discussions among our members by creating a forum topic for sharing varied experiences and perspectives.

As you have reactions to share, you may look to The Forum in the Members Area, where you will be able to post your comments. Please add your new posts in the usual way under The Scrivener topic heading. We would like to hear suggestions, feedback and particularly comments on ideas sparked by the content. For instance, do you have an ancestral line that moved from riches to rags, as Duncan Mitchell does? We would welcome hearing about them. Posts about the articles will be answered by the author where possible. The Editor of the Scrivener will monitor the posts and will respond to any questions you may have. Exchange Journals

Not all members may be aware that we exchange our quarterly journal, The Scrivener, with a number of other Family History Societies and receive their journal in return. Although many of these exchanging societies are in the UK, we do exchange with two FHS in New Zealand and four in Australia.

Many societies publish in a similar time scale as we do, i.e. 4 times a year, and often in March, June, September, and December.

To view exchange journals, simply select Exchange Journals from the Member’s Area drop down menu.
