14 October 2026 – Mills Project

The Project Team have now uploaded the first 4 books (of 10) onto the Online Database for the James Akroyd Mill at Skircoat. There are 3,795 entries covering the period 1891 – 1910.

A video explaining how to get the most out of the dataset is being prepared and will be available shortly. Progress with transcribing the remaining 6 books is continuing apace and more records will be uploaded shortly.

Once the James Akroyd Mill records are all online, work will commence on the I & I Calvert Mill.

Exchange Journals

Not all members may be aware that we exchange our quarterly journal, The Scrivener, with a number of other Family History Societies and receive their journal in return. Although many of these exchanging societies are in the UK, we do exchange with two FHS in New Zealand and four in Australia.

Many societies publish in a similar time scale as we do, i.e. 4 times a year, and often in March, June, September, and December.
