Every Picture tells a story

For all you budding photographers out there, does anybody have any photographs that they have taken of
the Calderdale area that they would be willing to let us use on our website and in publicity material (i.e. our Newsletter)? These could be of well-known landmarks, buildings, churches, or towns etc or pictures from your family history.

If you do have suitable images and would be happy to share these, then please send these through to our pam Newby(webassistant@cfhsweb.com), but please do ensure you only send images that we have full permission to use for copyright purposes.

Our Area on the Web Site

Quote

We want to update the ‘Our area’ section of our website, to ensure that our information is still up to date and current. Please do take a look and if you feel that any description needs some changes, send our Web Assistant, Pam Newby,(webassistant@cfhsweb.com) the details.

New transcriptions completed

Our transcriptions team has been working hard and recently achieved a milestone by publishing the last of the parish church registers. With the completion of these transcriptions the team has transcribed all the available parish records in our Society’s area. This is a tremendous achievement only very slightly marred because we have not been able to get permission to work on the registers for from St Mary/Christ Church at Todmorden.
But the team is not resting on its laurels! They are now working on the Burial records for Stoney Royd Cemetery – the largest & current cemetery in Calderdale, along with smaller projects. They are also collaborating with Warley Community Association on transcribing the Burial Registers for Warley Town Cemetery.
Have you used any of the transcriptions to unlock you family history? please let us know by putting a comment here.
